About Me
Q: What do I do?
A: I’m a journalist who lives, reads, and even dreams online. I’m a savvy social media networker, experienced writer, and sharp editor. I am well-traveled, well-educated and adaptable to virtual and brick-and-mortar professional settings. I have developed a strong sense of news judgment concerning content management, but retain the ability to think outside of the box and take risks.
I believe that journalism is not dead, but awaking from a Sleeping Beauty slumber. I am committed to excellence in journalism and the ever-changing creative use of technology that fuels it. As executive secretary of the National Association of Black Journalists Chicago Chapter (NABJ-CC), I have committed to professional organizations that promote responsible and fair journalism: the kind that afflicts the comfortable and comforts the afflicted. I understand the importance of media convergence and social networking for journalists and the organizations that serve journalists. I helped launch the local chapter’s Facebook group page to improve communication among members and create an online community. In addition, I served on the planning committee for the NABJ-Chicago’s fundraiser during the UNITY Journalists of Color Convention in 2008.
I am on a path to discovering my next professional challenge that will exercise my talent, creativity and perfectionist’s brand of attention to detail. The best way to communicate with me is via email or my social networking profiles.
